Workflow

30-07-2003 There are different ways and different tools to get and use a scanner icc profile
Specific programms's which can be used for one of the tasks:
lcms, xcmsdb, icc2ps, iccdump, scarse, lprof, sane-backend, sane-frontend, gimp, imagemagick, xsane, quiteinsane
filenames extension profile: .icc , icm (windows)

Information which can be needed:
icc profile monitor
gamma and color values monitor for use of in the lprof package
icc file printer
The programs that i use at the moment:
For scanning: Sane backend and frontends xsane or quiteinsane.
For generating icc profile: lcms (libcms debian package), lprof package for generating icc profile, (win. version installed with wine also works)

The new win. package lcms_profiler_beta_3 should work with an wine version of december 2003 or newer.

For converting ICC profiles in/out files: imagemagick ( convert program)
For viewing files: Gimp, Imagemagick

At this stage i perform the following steps:
1. Scan a reference target, write or save the settinges
if a userscan is made, to get a good result some settings should be equal (gamma, brightness, contrast etc.)
2. Make a profile with the lprof package:
a. qtMeasurmentTool
For example output file .it8 format
b. qtMonitorProfiler
gamma values monitor needed for some options
c. qtScannerProfiler
For example, input file .it8, output .icc format
d. qtProfileChecker
3. Program imagemagick convert commando
convert <filename.png> -profile scanner.icc -profile monitor.icc <new filename.png>
4. Check file with viewer, 16x3 bit only with imagemagick display commando.
